Invisalign / Orthodontics in NE, Calgary

Many people are familiar with the discomfort and appearance of metal braces. If you have misaligned teeth, you may be postponing a visit to your dentist because you don’t want these these type of braces.

Fortunately, you now have another option. Invisible braces called Invisalign are a comfortable and affordable orthodontic option to treat your over-, under, or crossbite, as well as teeth with uneven spaces or large gaps. Invisalign works for people of all ages, and, since they are clear, they don’t have any effect on your appearance.

Why Should You Choose Invisalign?

The benefits of Invisalign can be significant, however highlight for our patients experience is that these aligners are transparent thermoplastic material that has a much less prominent appearance than conventional metal braces.

Invisalign features modern technology that gives your dental health care provider better insight into your treatment. You will have a clear idea of how your treatment is progressing with this fantastic technology. Treatment typically ranges 18-24 months, however, we offer consultations to ensure that we give you the most accurate and customized estimate possible.

The biggest challenge of traditional metal braces is that the wearer has to avoid certain foods to prevent the accumulation of food particles or damage to the brackets. With Invisalign, however, you can take the aligner out of your mouth when you eat, and you can eat whatever you want.

Because you can remove your Invisalign aligners, keeping your teeth clear of plaque is not a problem. Simply take the aligner out after every meal, brush your teeth, clean the aligner, and put it back in your mouth. Traditional metal braces can be hard to keep clean so often clear aligners can be a preferred choice.

How to Start Your Invisalign Treatment

Schedule an appointment with your dentist at Crescent Heights Dental. During the session, the dentist will conduct a thorough examination to determine what the problem is with your teeth. They will also make sure that an Invisalign is the most suitable treatment.

If your dentist finds that an Invisalign is to the best way to move forward, they will x-ray your teeth and make an impression of your teeth. They will then proceed to customize an aligner to match your teeth.

You may have to wear multiple aligners as your progress with your treatment. Your dentist will give you specific instructions on how you should wear them. You can expect to wear the aligner for around 22 hours per day for few weeks, but the duration depends on the condition of your teeth and the prescribed treatment.

To measure your progress, you will have to schedule regular appointments with your dentist. At specific stages, you will receive a new set of aligners. Your appointments will be short and often under 30 minutes. When you reach the end of your treatment, your dentist will direct you to wear retainers at night. Your teeth will be aligned straight and you will be happy with those results.
